Annual Best of the City contest show ‘burquenos love to cook at Jan’s on 4th
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Dec. 5, 2015 – Jan’s on 4th Cooking School was voted the Best Cooking Classes in Albuquerque for the second consecutive year by Albuquerque The Magazine’s Best Of the City annual contest. Jan’s on 4th was also voted the Best Cooking Classes in 2014, and was in the top three in 2013. Voting in the contest is open to the public from May to August with winners announced in December.
“I’m very thankful to everyone who voted Jan’s on 4th the best cooking classes in Albuquerque,” said Jan Laird, owner of Jan’s on 4th. “It means so much that people took time out of their days to vote for us. It is always a joy to help students grow in their kitchen skills and be able to cook fresh and healthy food at home. Albuquerque is known for our great food culture, especially our chile. Helping my students learn to appreciate our good food and culture here is important to me.”
Laird is a native New Mexican whose cooking school is located in a 100-year-old renovated adobe home in the North Valley, off 4th Street. Laird teaching philosophy is based on the belief that cooking is a life skill. Laird believes that cooking can help better the lives of everyone who is confident and independent in the kitchen. Cooking classes range in topics from learning basic cooking skills to advanced classes, and of course New Mexico red and green chile classes. Classes are open to a variety of age groups including a kid’s camp during the summer months in which kids can learn to cook.
